ASMI: Association for Safe Use of Metal Items
Purpose
A wide variety of metal accessories and everyday products are an essential part of our daily lives.
However, numerous cases have been reported in which metallic components contained in these products cause skin irritation or allergic reactions through contact with the skin, sometimes resulting in adverse health effects. It is estimated that a significant number of people in Japan, particularly women, are affected by metal allergies.
Metal allergy is a condition that can often be prevented through the appropriate use of products that do not release metal ions.
To ensure that consumers can safely choose and use metal products, legal measures are needed, including regulations on metal release levels and product labeling requirements.
In collaboration with industry and governmental organizations, we are working to create an environment in which consumers can confidently select and use metal products.
